Our aim is to improve the lives of those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and the marginalised sector in general, by generating self help projects through the mediums of performance art, Dance, Film, Music, Drama and Creative Writing. Working alongside well established organisations in the world of rehabilitation, we support the transition of Young Offenders from prison back into society through a locally based anti crime programme. We also provide promotional videos for related organisations.
Why the community needs usWe have produced an anti crime documentary containing interviews with ex offenders who took part in the making of a film, showing how their lives have improved by getting involved with music/drama workshops - now they are mentors to other youths, preventing involvement with gangs and drugs. Our aim is to show the documentary to youth groups, local schools and community centres with a Q&A session with the film-makers and some of the cast - this can be opened up to a wider community audience.
Our impact on the communityUse the documentary as an educational tool for film students, showing the complete process of film-making, alongside the learning process for the forty or so students who took part in the making of the film, adding to their CVs and their employability. As a direct result of working in the film some of the ex-offenders have gained employment on other productions, and are now mentoring other youths in drama workshops, in addition to the musicians who have been commissioned for other productions.
