The Newham Ability Camp is the only pan disability multi sports club in Newham providing sports coaching to children & young adults with any disability from 8years -38 years old. We engage approximately 50 members per year in sessions running 3 times per week and give these young people vital access to a whole raft of sports opportunities that they may not access without the club. These sports include cricket, table tennis, baseball, basketball, badminton, frizbee, archery, volleyball, athletics, tennis, football, rugby, boccia and much more. We also offer competitive opportunities in cricket, football & athletics through the Lords Taverners Association, Essex FA and Special Olympics GB.

Why the community needs us

We offer young people with disabilities their first steps into sport in a friendly and supportive environment with specialist sports coaches who are experts in both delivering adapted sports opportunities and understanding the additional values of friendship, communication and teamwork these bring. We also provide much needed respite for parents & carers who use the opportunities this club provides to share experiences with other parents / guardians who understand the needs of their children.

Our impact on the community

We have up to 50 young disabled people per year taking part in our club sessions / competitions and the outcomes of this are not just to do with sport but are more importantly things like; increased confidence, learning new skills, independent travel, making new friends, travelling to new places and working with other people, where frequently our members are isolated in their normal environments.
