Hello,
I'm running the London Marathon on Sunday 27th April. I'm really excited and pretty nervous. It's also my birthday that day and not how I'd usually be celebrating! Growing up in London, I've cheered at the marathon every year, and always wanted to run it. It will be just over a year since I gave birth to Reuben and I'm breastfeeding, with all the broken sleep that brings - so the training has been a bit of an experiment to see what I can do, and it's been a journey to get here.
I am raising money for the West Silvertown Foundation, who do brilliant work supporting people in my local community to find connection, increase their confidence, and overcome challenges. This includes a community pantry, youth projects, parent and baby groups, sessions for families with special educational needs, free school uniform bank, classes to learn English as a second language, and employment support. Personally, WSF has been a huge source of friendship and support for Andy and I since moving to the area, and in our first year of parenthood. Andy has volunteered in their youth mentoring project, and Reuben and I attend parent and baby groups at the community centre.
If you would like to make a donation to WSF your money will make a real difference to people's lives, and to my motivation levels! I'd be very grateful.
If you'll be in London that day and cheering at the marathon, please look out for me - it will be a massive boost to see familiar faces.
Thank you!
Aimee
