On 29th January, Arlo and I are taking part in a 24 hour swimathon for Jubilee Swimming Pool. We will be Swimming for an hour between 10-11am.
As many of you may already know, Jubilee Pool was taken over by a community organisation last year when the Council made the decision to close the pool. The pool is a great community resource, it is used by Arlo’s school for swimming lessons and many of us use the pool regularly to keep fit / relax / be social / entertain children etc.
The money raised at this year 's Jubilee-athon will help keep the pool open and running for the local community to keep using. It will support:
Rising energy and pool chemical costs
Energy efficient improvements to heating and air handling systems
Expertise to apply for major grants for structural improvements
Professional fees to quantify and cost major repair work ready for grant funding applications
Additional swim teacher training and options to broaden services.
We hope to raise £80 between us to support this precious community resource. We would be very grateful if you could spare £5 to help us meet our target. Swimming for an hour is going to be a real challenge for Arlo who has only ever swam a few lengths at a time!
