For 85 years Jubilee Swimming Pool in Knowle, Bristol has been a vital leisure facility for its local community.
After years of campaigning, Jubilee Pool is the first pool in Bristol to be transferred into community ownership. It’s now time to build on this success. A dedicated group of supporters, The Friends of Jubilee Pool, have become the new guardians of the building. We are working hard to secure and develop Jubilee Pool into
an accessible, friendly, welcoming and environmentally sustainable facility for the whole community.
The Friends of Jubilee Pool are a group of passionate, diverse and driven volunteers committed to its future, ensuring it remains a community hub for locals to continue swimming, gyming, meeting and socialising, for generations to come.
Our vision is to provide a quality, sustainable local resource that is welcoming, affordable, inclusive and accessible for everyone in the community – encouraging people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and needs to start and continue to swim and exercise at every stage of their life. We strive towards a future where Jubilee Pool – with its rich history and fond memories – will survive and thrive.
We need you now more than ever.
Everyone is facing challenging times and Jubilee Pool is not immune to these issues. With the local communities help we have managed to get through the winter energy crisis. Although the energy crisis is still hitting hard, we are confident we can ride out this immediate challenge and start to focus on the major repairs and refurbishment needed after many years of neglect by Bristol City Council, in order to restore Jubilee back to its former glory.
Whilst we have been successful in securing some grants, the majority of funding needed is being raised through community events and donations. The local community and the Friends of Jubilee Pool, greatly appreciate everyone that has given their time, services for free and raised money for us so far.
If you would like to help us on this journey you can use local giving to donate or gain sponsorship. If you have other ideas of how you can help with fundraising or if you wish to get envolved with the Friends of Jubilee Pool please contact us on hello@fojp.co.uk
As you know, once these valued assets close, new ones do not open to replace them and communities suffer greatly as a result.
Please stand by us!
