The Camino Invierno:
A 200 mile solo pilgrimage walk for young boys without Fathers in their lives.
I am Mark Smith and for my 9th pilgrimage path I will be walking The Camino Invierno -The Winter Way- from Ponferrada to Santiago de Compostella raising funds and awareness for Lads Need Dads CIC.
I volunteer as a Reading Mentor and act as a positive role model to support boys who are growing up without the influence or presence of Fathers. We read together, talk about life and emotions and even fit in a game of draughts on some weeks! I have witnessed and been touched by how these sessions increase empathy, communication skills and self-esteem, contributing to the boys’ overall emotional growth and well-being.
I start my walk on 8th September and aim to arrive in Santiago de Compostella on the 19th.
