The aim is not to assume that we know what it is like to rough sleep as it is for one night only. It is a taster and recognition of the difficulties that those experiencing homelessness in Wellingborough face on a daily basis. It is vital that awareness of homelessness in the UK is kept in the public eye and any money raised from this event will go towards the running costs of our Community Hub and foodbank.
Your vital fundraising will continue the work in these two essential areas of need.
The Community Hub offers a TLC service which operates between 10am and 11.30am, Monday through to Friday. It is a time dedicated for anyone who is street homeless or lacking in facilities to meet their basic needs. There is access to hot showers, clothing, bedding, laundry facilities and food. We also offer access to computers and telephone.
From 11.30am to 1pm the hub offers support to people who may be experiencing a range of difficulties. You may be at risk of homelessness, be facing financial challenges, struggling with substance misuse, mental and / or physical health issues. Whatever your difficulty, our dedicated Community Link Workers are there to help. Our aim is help people get access to the right support, at the right time, from the right organisation.
The Foodbank supports people at their time of greatest need or crisis. We believe that no-one should ever go hungry which is why we provide up to four days supply of food as well as essentials such as household items and toiletries. We also try to support the nutritional needs of our community whenever we can, so you may even find dairy, bakery or fresh fruit and vegetables in your parcel. With todays cost of living crisis, donations are lower and the need is greater so fundraising through Sleepout 2024 is vital to keep the foodbank running.
