I am excited to be running the Brighton 10k on Sunday 7 April this year alongside the TLC team to raise money to launch a schools project in Brighton with Schools of Sanctuary, providing placements for refugee job seekers with a view to changing perceptions and promoting cultural understanding. In the words of a TLC client, "We need this opportunity to prove our ability and to use the skills we acquired before we came here and I think we can make a big contribution in the school bringing new skills and introducing new ideas and cultures."
The Launchpad Collective was set up in 2020 to support refugee job seekers to become work-ready. Importantly all the core staff have refugee backgrounds and all the services are developed by people with lived experience.
