In 2016 (see banner photo) and 2017, I ran 5k on Equal Pay Day to raise awareness of the Gender Pay Gap. Equal Pay Day marks the point in the year when, on average, women are effectively working for free compared with men – this year it falls on 20 November. I wrote about why here: https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/nick-cartwright/equal-pay-day_b_12551896.html
To highlight this continuing injustice, I’ll be running 5k once again. This time, I’m also raising funds for the Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council (NREC) – an incredible organisation that provides dedicated casework support to women facing discrimination in the workplace, helping them challenge unfair treatment and fight for their rights.
I’m older, heavier and much less fit than I was in 2016… so believe me, this is really going to hurt! But it’s worth it – both to shine a light on pay inequality and to support NREC’s vital work.
