Leeds Women’s Aid (LWA) is a local independent charity which provides a range of the very best services for vulnerable women and families who are victims and survivors of: domestic, sexual & honour-based violence and abuse; forced marriage; trafficking; stalking and harassment.

2022 marks LWA's 50th year. To mark this significant milestone, LWA has launched a fundraising appeal to raise funds for a new children’s outdoor play area and dedicated tranquil garden space for its residents to rest, recover and connect with others.  The total cost of the project is £50,000.

A team of staff from Eversheds Sutherland, led by LWA business advisory committee member Gemma Hanley, together with friends and family are undertaking the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge on 7 May 2022, to raise funds for this amazing cause.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in under 12 hours.  These peaks form part of the Pennine range and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge route is 24 miles (38.6km) and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.

LWA is the lead agency for the following two consortiums: Leeds Domestic Violence Service (LDVS) commissioned by the local authority to provide all community and accommodation-based support for families and individuals affected by domestic violence and abuse, and the Women’s Lives Leeds (WLL) project, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, working with vulnerable women and girls in Leeds experiencing multiple disadvantage.
