We at Fair Frome are appealing for support for our Food at 5 project which offers a free nutritious freshly cooked meal and a warm safe and inclusive space to local people 3 times a week.

For many people who attend, this is the only hot food they get in a week as they do not have access to properly cooked food due to homelessness, living in temporary accommodation or not being able to afford to pay their energy bills. On average, 130 meals are served every week at a cost to Fair Frome of £9 per meal or £1170 per week.

The cost of living crisis has increased the demand for all of Fair Fromes services but also the cost to deliver those services has risen dramatically. With most people in the UK having to cut costs at home, Fair Frome is having to focus the reduced donations we are receiving on our vital Food Bank project meaning without new support our vital Food at 5 project could be at risk in the near future.

Food at Five is so much more than just a meal. It is a support network with regular teams of trained volunteers who provide consistent friendly help, a listening ear and signposting to ensure improved physical and mental well-being. We feed pensioners that come on their own, families that come with children and give takeaways to carers who come on behalf of the people they support.
