Play for All – Inclusive Play for Rainworth
Hello everyone, my name is Mollie and my husband is called Nick and we live in Rainworth with our wonderful 3 boys, one of which is called Rupert. Rupert is a beautiful, happy and loving 5 year old boy who is a full time wheelchair user and has a severe mental disability.
We love our area however one problem we have is we cannot use the local parks without Rupert being left out from playing with his brothers and the local children due to a huge lack of accessible play equipment and as a mum seeing him left out and upset just kills me.
The Social Action Hub, Rainworth Parish Council, NSDC Cllrs Claire Penny & Linda Tift, NCC Cllr Tom Smith, MDC Cllr Charlotte Inkle and MP Michelle Ward are all supporting this campaign.
Every child deserves the right to play
Our aim is to make community play accessible for all and we will campaign, engage partners and fundraise as much as we can to achieve it.
Our plan is to:
Work with the Parish Council to out a feasibility study to establish the best equipment for the best value for money, placed in the best location and obtain quotes from suppliers
Fundraise for the equipment
Work with partners to raise awareness of inclusive play and make plans for future development and play infrastructure
Our first objective is to raise funds for an inclusive roundabout to be located on the Hayfields Estate; for the equipment, VAT, installation and ongoing maintenance and repairs.
