In March 2019, aged 51, I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. I had surgery which successfully removed the tumour a few weeks later. In order for my colon to heal completely I was given a Stoma. I then went thorough a course of chemotherapy.
A year later I was given the "all clear" before then having a Stoma reversal operation in March 2020. Just in the nick of time before the first Lockdown!
I feel incredibly lucky!
During my treatment, Yeleni Therapy and Support - a local Herefordshire Charity - kept me sane and relaxed! I received 1:1 yoga sessions with Mike. My time at Yeleni was the only time I could completely switch off and relax and not worry about my treatment or my family. In Lockdown no.1 when I was recovering from my second operation and coping with the stress of homeschooling - Yeleni’s support continued with online yoga sessions - again they had come to the rescue of keeping me sane!!
In 2021 I am walking 1000 miles to raise funds so that Yeleni can continue to support other cancer sufferers with their free programme of therapies and wellbeing sessions.
You are completely amazing - which I knew already. Glad I spotted this on FB! 🤩😘
Great achievement Louise! With love from The Worthing family xxx
