Man-archy was founded in 2020 following the impact of the lockdowns on Men’s Mental Health. It was born from the understanding that Men’s mental health often has some unique challenges due to social values and gender norms and expectations.
Man-archy’s purpose is to be both a crisis intervention for men experiencing personal crisis and suicidal tendency, as well as to be a preventative measure, a form of support, to enable every man to feel connected to a community, heard, valued, and to thrive. Our experience and work has lead to us directly support over 100 men so far, helping to prevent potentially dozens of suicides, as well as supporting many back into employment after long periods of being unable to do so.
We aim to enable each person we connect with to fulfil their potential, operating in all areas of their lives as the best version of themselves. Changing perceptions of mental health struggles and improving services and support is vital for the wellbeing of our community. However, suicide prevention receives just 10% of the governments road safety budget each year, despite it being the cause of 4 times the number of fatalities.
Please help us to continue with and grow our work, so that we can give hope to a man in crisis.
