To celebrate my 50th birthday (07.09.1971), with AFC Huddersfield, I organised a charity football game (07.09.2021). Involving current players and others I have played with and respected over the years, we nominated Calderdale and Kirklees WomenCentre as our chosen charity. Our motivation is to support great work to stop violence against women.
The game was played at Storthes Hall Park, HD8 0WA. KO 6:15pm.
Thankyou Shelley CFC.
Thank you Mick Coles for donating your referee fee.
Over £700 has been raised, a sincere thank you to all involved and/or donated.
It's not too late to donate, we continue to smash our target: https://localgiving.org/charity/womencentre/
Post-match report
There was a threat of a David Aisthorpe match report, but it hasn't materialised. The evening was a great success. App 35 turned up to play and app 30-40 poor souls came to watch us run around. 26 degrees hot sunshine and an open bar made that more bearable.
With 'Pirlo' winning the toss, he made birthday boy Lloydy play the first half with the sun in his Right Back position eyes. Things went against script with Daves team 2-0 up shortly after half-time. Goals from Jnr Spud and Josh Walters. Lloydys team fought back, thanks to half time subs, Mo, George and Elhadj Mamadou running the second half. Two goals from 'back on fiire' Mo Mustafa pulled it back 2-2. Lloydy found himself 25 yards out, but his shot flew past the bottom corner post (Yes Ryan, I know I should have taken a touch). The game went to penalties with Lloydy's team coming out on top and oh, such a sweet Lloydy 'Top Bins' penalty. (Sir) Gareth has called me up for England penalty coaching!
Lloydy could not walk or talk the next day (or eat thanks to a 'Josh Ball' forearm smash in his face) and Karl 'The Better' Norwood is now claiming a Lloydy boot shape bruise on his inner thigh!
Josh 'What Ref?' Walters seems keen to do it all again next year (probably because he got his first goal in two years:-).
Thank you all
