More and more schoolchildren are struggling to cope with their mental health. There are rising rates of depression, anxiety and self-harm in children and young people.

It breaks my heart knowing that so many young people are suffering and often they suffer in silence. Any charity that can help a child or adolescent in need deserves huge recognition and support. 

I have chosen a local charity based in Bath called “Off the Record.”

Off the Record offer a safe space that’s non-judgemental and free to access. They work with young people to find a way forward. There’s also an option of calling their phoneline if attending a meeting feels too much or is difficult to arrange.

Running for me is my safe space. It allows me to reflect and often, if I’m feeling low, it helps give me a boost. 

I hope by running in the Bath Half Marathon I will also be able raise some money for a very worthy cause.
