For the past 3 years, Quilombo UK has been providing partially and fully funded Capoeira training for children who may not normally have access to sports or inclusive activities from our local estates and currently has 15 students enrolled in the school.
Annually, we hold a 3 day event, workshops, including learning movements, acrobatics, history, philosophy and music. These workshops are taught by guest masters and teachers from across the world, and include highly respected members of the Capoeira community across the world.
As annual workshops are events for the entire school, we want to ensure that the students from the Cambridge Road estate can be included in both the activities and the socialising, and not feel isolated or excluded by financial or social constraints.
I'm running to help raise money for the students, and to try to ensure as many children as possible from the project can experience the event.
