Planting a tree in Graham’s memory
Many of you will be aware of the sad news that one of our parents and school governors, Graham Turnbull, died from a brain tumour, last October, aged just 57. Graham served as a governor for Hunter’s Bar Junior school for over three years; dedicating significant time and energy to the role.
Graham was also a committed tree campaigner and clean air advocate, who cared deeply about the community and the environment.
We would like to remember Graham and the commitment he made to the school, local environment and wider community, by planting a tree close to the school, in his name.
In order to help us plant the tree, which will be maintained and looked after long into the future, we are working with NESST (Nether Edge and Sharrow Sustainable Transformation) - a local group supporting local communities to access funding to plant new street trees.
We have set up a Crowdfunder with NESST and we are aiming to raise £362.50 by the end of March. A tree usually costs a total of £725 (which covers the cost of the tree, digging a tree pit and maintenance for 100 years by the Council contractor). However NESST are able to subsidise 50% of the costs.
If you would like to make a donation, please donate to this Crowdfunder Thank you.
