DISTANCE - DAY 48 - 500km

Hi there

I'm John, I'm a recovering alcoholic who has found an absolute lifeline through being a client at Resolve. After 14 years of struggling through a difficult battle with addiction I went to a rehab centre on 2023, upon leaving I was filled with fear of how life would continue. The morning after I got home I attended my first group therapy session at Resolve, and since then I have learned more than I could have possibly imagined about this particularly nasty illness, been mentored on ways to cope and been exposed to a plethora of other humans with a shared goal, getting better and living well.

What I hope to raise is nothing compared to the value of what I've been given, and opened up to through attending Resolve, but I hope to at least raise some awareness of this incredible, life saving service.

Addiction is an insidious, progressive and barbaric illness, which will corrupt every aspect of living, recovery is hard, but the difference is something I can't really put in to words, so I'll just hope more people get to see it, and live in it.

I'll be walking 500km starting February 1st to March 31st, with a 31km walk planned on March 8th, my 31st birthday and an age I did not see myself reaching.

For every kilometre over 500 I walk I will also donate £1 myself. Weekly or daily distance updates will be added to this page wherever possible.
