What is it?

Blaydon Cycling Club is hosting a women-only “come and try” cycling time trial on a 12-mile course starting and finishing just outside Stamfordham, Northumberland. Collectively, we hope to set a new record for the number of female entrants in a cycling time trial.

A Guinness World Record?

We have contacted Guinness about the possibility of setting a record for female participation in a cycling time trial and await their response.

Who can ride?

Absolutely anybody, fast, slow or somewhere in between as long as they are female. Everyone will be afforded the same amount of respect for giving it a go.

How much does it cost to enter?

£5 per person of which £3 is a levy due to Cycling Time Trials, the body that overseas time trialling in England, Scotland and Wales. The other £2 will cover any additional costs which, if not required, will go to Newcastle Women’s Aid.

Do I need to be in a cycling club to enter?

No, but we’d love to see you join one afterwards.

Do I need special equipment?

No. All you need is a road worthy bike, a helmet and working front and back lights.

Do I have to wear special cycling clothing?

No. Wear whatever you want. You will be just as welcome in a t-shirt and shorts as you will be in a tight-fitting skinsuit. Indeed, fancy dress would be fun if you want to bring additional joy to proceedings.

Where can I sign up?

Entries will be available online in early-2026 (link to follow). You can also choose to sign up on the day and will start after the pre-registered riders.
