Hello! I'm Em, and I'm running the Oxford half marathon to raise money for SAFE! SAFE! works to support young people who have experienced some form of crime, whether that's bullying or domestic abuse, to help them to regain confidence and quality of life. I think being a young person is hard enough without experiencing these things, and those going through them should have access to free and confidential support. I would really appreciate any donations that you are able to give towards this fundraiser!
This will be my first time running a half marathon, and it is over twice as far as the furthest I've run before (10km). It should be a challenge, but I'm really looking forward to it, if nervous! Please do come and support on the day if you're in Oxford - it would be great to see some familiar faces during the race!
SAFE! is an independent charity working with young people aged 5 to 18 in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes who have been harmed by crime or bullying. We provide open access, inclusive, and free services for young people and families affected by crime, helping them overcome the effects of what has happened to them and regain their quality of life. One-to-one sessions are designed to increase confidence, build resilience and improve future safety. By listening attentively and putting their needs at the heart of the process, SAFE! empowers young people, giving them a voice and helping them and those around them to build protective communities where they can feel safe. With the rise in sexual abuse, domestic violence and internet crime the world can be a scary place, and SAFE!’s unique, innovative and compassionate service seeks to help young people live happy and adventurous lives.
