The Sylvia Beaufoy Centre is a youth charity supporting young people up to age 18 across Petworth and the surrounding villages. As one of the few dedicated youth services in the area, we provide vital activities, guidance and one‑to‑one support that help young people develop confidence, skills and pathways into work and training. Our team focuses on building positive relationships and a strong sense of community and belonging.

We operate five days a week during term time, with additional weekend and holiday programmes, and currently have 530 registered young people. Demand for our services has grown significantly since lockdown, with more than 5,000 visits in 2025.

To meet this growing need, we are constructing an extension to house a new workshop for our popular Greenpower and mountain biking programmes. Greenpower develops STEM skills through the design, build and racing of electric cars.

Relocating the workshop will free up a large upstairs space, which we plan (as part of phase 2) to reconfigure into flexible rooms for one‑to‑one support, meetings, and potentially a sound studio—expanding what we can offer both to young people and the wider community.

As we undertake this initial extension, we welcome donations to sponsor a block for £20. All sponsors will be recognised on our Roll of Honour, which will be proudly displayed within the Centre.
