We’re doing another crowdfunder for more street trees in the Sharrow Vale & Hunter’s Bar area.
Orders need to be placed by 31/03/26, so the next batch can be planted (October 2026-March 2027.
Over the last few years, with the help of NESST’s 50% subsidy, Sharrow Vale Community Association (SVCA) and other local groups have successfully raised funds to purchase 40+ street trees, planted in our pavements, bringing much needed environmental/wellbeing benefits to the area.
SVCA has pledged to fund at least one tree annually, for as long as such a scheme exists. Last year we funded many of the 17 planted. Funds came from the Sharrow Vale Markets. The Post Office also fundraised by running a 10k, saving notice board fees and assisting with our Stamp Swap-Out initiative (if you have any unused old ones please drop them off with Abdul at the Post Office as we will do it again).
This year SVCA is only able to sponsor one tree and so we need your help to boost that number! Funding just a few would be an amazing improvement and investment in our community, environment and future.
New street trees cost £700, replacements for vandalised trees £350 each, and cages £20. This work has to be done by Streets Ahead, and we must choose from an approved species list. New street trees are our responsibility for the first 3 years. After that they’re adopted onto the road network. Please help us raise as much as possible by 31/03/26 by donating via this crowdfunder. If you are able to, adding Gift Aid helps even more! Thank you.
