I had a very weak moment recently and agreed to abseil down a 60 foot climbing wall for Our Place Support - a Community Interest Company that I have been involved with formally since January of this year as a director (voluntary role).
Since making that decision to abseil, fear is setting in, and I am starting to doubt my life choices! It would give me great comfort whist I am about to launch my out of condition middle aged body from the top of the wall, if I know that I am raising lots of funds for a great organisation that do such a lot of good work within the Birmingham community.
Our Place Support is a community organisation delivering key services which support people during their time of need, this includes a Mentoring Scheme for children and young people dealing with social, emotional and mental health challenges and an Advice Service open to people who need help and support in housing, benefits and unemployment. These services are greatly in demand post pandemic and in the current economic climate.
