Our son (aka 'Squid') is about to 'squidaddle' after 5 incredible years as a Sea Cadet. AT just 16, he holds a power boat license, an NVQ and qualifications in windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, mountain biking and rowing. He has Duke of Edinburgh bronze and Silver awards. He has competed in national finals in drill at HMS Raleigh, rowing on the Thames and sailing. He has spent weeks away crewing a sea barge, a tall ship from the Highlands to Cumbria and a power vessel to Belgium and back (travelling to Kent to join unaccompanied). He has made friends for life. We will never be able to thank them for all the incredible volunteer staff have given him but as he leaves to begin a career that Sea Cadets has prepared him for, he wants to raise as much as he can to enable the life transforming opportunities to continue for others.
