I am in my 84th year and am committed to climbing 84 flights of stairs in 10 days. It horrifies me that currently 21% of Britons (14m) are living in poverty; that beggars and rough sleepers are a common sight; that British children go hungry; and that Covid-19 will close businesses, increasing unemployment and creating food shortages for people who have never known hunger.
