Ammi's Kitchen is a place where local women, from different cultures, come together to cook family recipes. It is a part of Family Voice, an established community organisation.
Ammi's Kitchen brings together women who are keen to share their culinary skills and access paid work, something which they have often struggled with due to complex barriers. The women receive professional bespoke training and payment for their work — this leads to personal independence, improved employability and increased feelings of self worth. The women we work with are fantastic cooks, it is a skill they have honed over years on a daily basis cooking for large households. They bring a knowledge of spices and a depth of flavour that is common in home cooking, but seldom found in other food establishments. This is a strengths based project that gives local migrant women paid work experience in an environment they feel comfortable in.
Ammi's Kitchen food social enterprise transforms women's authentic culinary skills into paid work, making the local economy more distributive and regenerative.
We run a fortnightly Community Lunch at Common Ground S7 1HA - all are welcome - just turn up! And a takeaway on alternate Fridays which you can pre-book on www.ammiskitchensheffield.org - see our dates on the website.
All funds raised support local migrant women to build employment skills and access paid work.
