I started running on my 60th birthday in 2012 because my son Tom challenged me to run a half marathon that year.

9 months later I ran the Bath Half marathon. In 2016 I had a heart attack. It took me about a year to get my fitness back, but I ended up running well again. in 2023 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. I finished Chemo in June 2024. If I finish the 100k it will be less than a year after my chemo finished!

Jill, my wife, has suffered from MS for more than 30 years, and been in a wheelchair since 2001. She has had great support from the Wessex MS Centre and enjoys her weekly visits there for therapy, so I am raising money for them.

The Wessex MS Therapy Centre, we are a self-funded registered charity, providing therapies, information and practical and emotional support for people with multiple sclerosis and other conditions, such as Cancer, sports injuries, ME and chronic fatigue among many other conditions. We offer physical therapies in a comfortable and friendly environment to aid symptom management, promoting and enabling independence to improve well-being and quality of life.  We want all our members to enjoy each visit to the centre where we provide long term, individual support.  We offer physiotherapy, reflexology, oxygen therapy, counselling, massage therapy, nutritional advice, pilates and yoga.
