We decided, as a family, to do something to raise money for Hope Nottingham; where Sean is a Trustee. The charity is currently feeding hundreds of families across the city in partnership with local businesses, schools, churches and community groups.
We live on a cul-de-sac with an island at each end and decided, in keeping with London Marathon weekend, that the whole family would cycle 26 laps/8.5 miles (which took an hour). Then Sean and Archie would continue by walking a further 54 laps/18 miles (26.5 miles in total) with Jude completing the cycle and then 15 walking laps/5 miles (13.5 miles total). As a family of 6 we covered a combined distance of 90miles: 3x8.5+1x13+2x26! To satisfy social distancing we started the cycling at 7pm and then walked through the night, finishing at 3.30am.
This all took place on Saturday 25th-Sunday 26th April. Pretty much the whole street turned out, over the hour cycle, to support us with balloons, bunting, signs, snacks and even candles for our night walk. And we’ve had 64 donations totalling over £1,690 plus gift aid which will bring the total to nearly £2,000 raised! Amazing! You can still donate if you want to - every £1 will make a difference.
We want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone for your support.
