In the UK people with autism without intellectual disability are statistically more than 9 times more likely to die by suicide compared to neurotypical people. This risk is increased for men who live in the North-East.
These are preventable tragedies.
At a time when services and support for men encountering crises of varying shapes and sizes are at an all-time low, and vital provisions are being eviscerated in favour of more inequality and more wars, amidst a wider crisis of meaning-- I wanted to do something-- anything to help this cause close to my heart by raising funds for a vital grass roots charity that combats this in County Durham.
RTMinds is a Gilesgate based charity that works directly with people experiencing such crises by foregrounding humanity, community, and inclusion.
I would be very grateful even for the most modest of donations that would go towards supporting the vitally needed work in suicide prevention through reclaiming a sense of community, safety, and connection.
P.S I’m actually scared of heights too. 🙈
