HEET is a not-for-profit organisation working with the community in north-east London to make the homes of local people warmer and healthier. We make homes more energy efficient, and help people to reduce their fuel bills to save money.

HEET carried out work to insulate and get rid of damp in Ms Emthiyaz's home:

‘They saved my kids from getting asthmatic.. Once a month they used to go to the hospital because of the living conditions. But after HEET had done the room very well, my kids didn’t have to go back...I’m really thankful for HEET, for helping me and my family to live a better life.'

Why do we need your support now? 

Demand for HEET is increasing as fuel prices are rising and household budgets, particularly for the poorest, are shrinking.  The number of people in fuel poverty is rising.

We particularly need support from you for:

• Writing reports on damp issues for residents, so they can ask for action from their landlord. 

• Heating repairs and advice on heating controls. Heating systems can be very confusing, but if used properly can make a huge difference to warmth and the amount of money spent.  

• Care and conversation to go alongside energy advice and installations, particularly for those who are isolated. We don’t just want to fit a boiler, we want to listen to clients, and connect the dots to other services to make people safe and well in their homes. 

We save households that we visit an average of £300 a year and we aim that every £1 we spend results in a £1 annual saving for the household. We don’t charge residents anything for our services.
