HEET is a not-for-profit organisation working with the community in north-east London to make the homes of people warmer and healthier. We make homes more energy efficient, and help people reduce their fuel bills to save money. This means homes release less carbon emissions, helping to tackle climate change.

Our vision is a society where everyone, whatever their income, age or background, can afford to live in a safe, warm, comfortable and healthy home.

How do we do this? 

We prioritise supporting people at risk of fuel poverty. Fuel poverty is when people can’t afford to heat their home to a temperature that is needed to keep warm and healthy. Waltham Forest has the third highest level of fuel poverty of London boroughs. 14% of Enfield residents are fuel poor. 

One of our home energy advisors visits a resident in their home to identify actions to make the home more energy efficient and less damp. We install small measures, like draughtproofing. We identify and support households to access grants for further work. We look at fuel bills and see how money can be saved on them, and support people to understand their energy meters.

We save households that we visit an average of £300 a year, and we aim that every £1 we spend results in a £1 annual saving for the household. We don’t charge residents for our services.
