From June 15th to September 6th 2016, I will be cycling from Alaska to Mexico;
and using this journey to raise money for the London-based charity -The Bike Project.
The Bike Project helps refugees and asylum seekers by giving them bikes and teaching them how to fix them- helping with the massive cost of transport, thus providing access to crucial services.
The freedom and autonomy of owning a bike is, to me, the starting point of surviving happily. The workshop offers refugees and asylum seekers a place to be with people and find community. http://thebikeproject.co.uk/
What drew me to this charity was the concept of providing community to those likely to be without one- powerful in a place like London. Or anywhere.
I'm Katie, a 25 year old gardener and student.
