Five years ago I had the call from my Mum to say she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She was vey lucky that the it was found early as the result of a routine mammogram. She had to undergo a single mastectomy, again she was lucky to not have to face chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
Five years of daily medication has kept the cancer away and a new step in her journey begins. During that time the Yeleni Centre in Hereford has been a place of therapy and support offering Massage, Reiki, Reflexology and Meditation and more. It is a charity reliant on fundraising and donations as well as users paying for their services. Being able to talk to someone, learn techniques to deal with mental health enabled her to "become me again". She still attends, as a paying customer, and continues to find their services beneficial.
The service the Yeleni Centre offers is invaluable, and essential in the area, the Breast Cancer Haven in Herefordshire had to close due to lack of funding and Yelini has stepped in to meet the need of local cancer patients.
I'm hoping to raise even just a little money to show my gratitude for what they have provided her. I hope that they continue to be able to offer the same help they gave my Mum when she needed it the most. I've decided to use a skydive as a way to fundraise. I'm not a fan of heights in the slightest, but I'm determined to face it for a good cause.
