After spending stupid money on buying a brand-new road bike, I needed to put it to good use by doing something worthwhile. After doing a few triathlons, and realising that I'm really not a runner, I've been looking for cycling sportives.
Not really thinking much of it, I was considering having a go at at the London-Southend, London-Cambridge, etc, just for something to do. Until, one day, soon after Christmas 2013, my partner's sister, Tania asked me if I would consider riding in the London-Surrey 100 mile race??!! Wow! Ummmmm.... Yes, I'd love to - but am I really capable? At nearly 100kg, and not overly fit, I really did doubt myself. But what better goal to work towards than to work at completing one of the most amazing events on the planet?!
To cut a long story short, the wonderful charity that Tania is involved with had booked a place in this gruelling ride, and I was lucky enough to be asked if I would fill it for them. So, here I am.
Training is going well, and I'm very confident that I will be fit and strong enough to complete this massive mission on Sunday 10 August. All I need now is support from my amazing friends and family (and anybody else who wants to donate??!!!) to help me in my mission to raise funds for this worthwhile charity, who will use the funds to run activities for children with special needs in Epping Forest.
Thank you for reading, and thank you in advance for your kind donations.
