We are in desperate need of an experienced personal finance adviser to supplement the work of our employment and training experts. The new worker would provide advice and guidance on debt management, saving and borrowing, welfare benefits, household budgeting, bank accounts, and the financial complexities of moving in and out of work. A full-time post would cost £30,000 per annum including associated office costs.
Why they need our serviceWheatsheaf has supported 3,100 clients into employment, but our work is going to be harder over the next few years. The nature of our work is changing as people used to secure jobs need advice on the benefit system, financial issues and problems - mortgage arrears, rent payments, credit cards, and household budgeting - and on finding banks and legitimate lenders to avoid the clutches of loan sharks. Cuts in benefits will also make life harder for the longer-term workless families we support.
Plan and expected resultsClients on top of their financial situation and able to understand the vagaries of the benefits systems will be more able to realistically appraise their potential, and confidence and self-esteem will increase which will improve employability.
