Beanfield Artists become Artists in Residence at The Green Patch allotments in Kettering from August - September 2012 as volunteers at Green Patch were keen to stage the project there. Art works were made in a variety of ways, including the use of recycled and upcycled materials and the use of natural materials such as wood. The project identified and explored themes inspired by the allotments themselves. We hope to work creatively with other community growing spaces.
Why they need our serviceThe Green Patch is a wonderful space in a quiet corner of an estate in Kettering. The space touched us when we came to plant a willow arbor in early Spring and we felt that artistic interventions would help to animate the site, bring in more volunteers, growers, community members. We believe that being in the fresh air, planting and recording plants and vegetables can help bind communities, promote intergenerational harmony, boost self esteem, increase creativity and improve wellbeing.
