Astro Lighting has supported Streets2Homes for a number of years, focusing their annual fundraising efforts solely on the charity which works hard to support homeless individuals in the local community.
The partnership with Streets2Homes began when Astro Co-founders John Fearon and James Bassant met with Streets2Homes CEO Kerrie Eastman and were blown away by the incredible work the charity does on a day-to-day basis, and how much of a difference they make to individuals within the area.
Streets2Homes supports homeless people, or those at risk of becoming homeless, by offering a day centre for individuals aged 18 and over. The charity offers essential support in finding accommodation, getting back into employment, opportunities to gain qualifications, as well as providing basic amenities such as hot meals, warm clothing and access to shower facilities. With a team of just three employees and around 20 volunteers, resources are spread thin on the ground and so the charity relies heavily on donations and support from the public and other local organisations.
John and James commented, - "At Astro Lighting, we are very fortunate to have enjoyed success and growth since our foundation over 20 years ago. As we continue to grow, it is important to us that we give back to our local community. We feel very proud that one of the first actions we took wais to partner with Streets2Homes to support the incredible work they do for homeless people within the local Harlow area."
For 2019, a group of 25 Astro employees are going to take part in the 'Astro Trekathon' - a 26 mile hike across part of the scenic South Downs National Park, starting at Lewes Castle and finishing at the largest chalk cliff in the UK, Beachy Head.
The Trekathon will most definitely be a challenge for the team but all in aid of a hugely worthwhile cause. The Astro Team will be extremely grateful for any donations you can make.
