Aylesbury Nightstop offers emergency host accomodation in local homes to young people facing a homelessness crisis thus preventing entrenched housing and emotional issues developing. Mediation will be offered to the young people to help facilitate a return home where appropriate. Alternatively, support will be offered to identify and secure safe and sustainable follow-on accommodation.
Why they need our serviceAll communities have homelessness issues. Aylesbury Nightstop aims to overcome the often hidden issue of youth homelessness in the Aylesbury area. The Aylesbury Homelessness Strategy 2008-12 recognises the need for immediate short-term accommodation to prevent youth homelessness when it states: " We support Nightstop - a project aimed at providing a short-term safe environment for young people who may be made homeless."
Plan and expected resultsAylesbury Nightstop is expected to reduce young person homelessness in the Aylesbury area. Aylesbury Nightstop will provide young people in need with a safe place to stay when they first become homeless thus reducing the number of young people either sleeping rough or 'sofa-surfing in houses where they may be exposed to a host of problem issues such as drug abuse and violence.
