Running for Rowan.
On Sunday 28 February (my birthday!) I have decided to not to go to the pub, but instead to run the Cambridge Half Marathon to raise money for a very deserving and amazing charity, Rowan!
Rowan is a local arts centre and social enterprise in Cambridge city centre that works with adults with learning-disabilities to produce outstanding arts and crafts which can be sold, commissioned, and displayed in exhibitions. Through making art, the students at Rowan are able to develop their creative, social and communication skills, independence and confidence. It’s a fantastic place, with a vibrant and friendly atmosphere, where it’s easy to see how the arts improves lives.
I have been supporting a student who attends Rowan once a week. Rowan has enabled this student to produce some fantastic art work. They have shown enormous progression and have recently been involved with Rowan's exhibition 'Art Makes You Powerful'. I have seen first hand the positive impact Rowan has on individuals, it really is an amazing place.
This year, Rowan is going to be redeveloping their premises to improve accessibility for students, and to create a new music and drama workshop space. If you would like to support me in raising money for this truly deserving charity I would be extremely grateful. Rowan is about to undergo some big and beneficial changes so any donations would be extremely valuable.
Many thanks, and if you fancy coming along to cheer me on as well that would be awesome!!
