As you will all know, I'm not big on exercise....at the time of signing up for the Colour Run (March 2014) I don't even own a pair of trainers (unless you count a pair of converse and a pair of vans, which I don't), so that's going to be an important thing to sort out pretty sharpish! For most people a 5K probably wouldn't sound like a big deal but anyone that knows me will know that I'm not really a fan of....well...physical exertion of any kind....so this is a pretty big effort for me! I hope that means lots of you will dig deep and donate anything you can spare for a really important cause. I'm raising money for an amazing project called RSVP (the Rape and Sexual Violence Project). Despite being the second city, Birmingham doesn't have a Rape Crisis Centre/ SARC so RSVP is a vital lifeline in Brum for women (and men and children) who need support in this area. They deliver Advocacy, counselling and support groups for anyone in Birmingham and Solihull that needs it. A couple of years ago I had an experience that meant I have needed their support, and so I can say first hand that RSVP do a fantastic job. They offer all of their services free of charge to those that need it, and rely heavily on donations from people like YOU! RSVP genuinely helped me in so many ways, so this is my chance to give something back to them, and enable them to continue helping more men, women and children that are survivors of sexual violence. Please give anything you can to help this amazing cause! Pictures of me covered in multicoloured sweat will follow after the run in August! :)
