As some of you know, I've talked about shaving my head for charity for years and now I'm finally biting the bullet and doing it! My hair is 17'' long and the whole lot is coming off on Sunday 12th May!
I'm doing this to raise money and awareness for a wonderful local mental health charity, Valleys Steps. Everyone will be affected by mental health issues at some point in their lives, whether it's yourself or a loved one. We need to be more open in talking about our mental health and remove the stigma around it in order for things to change. Valleys Steps teaches people how to cope with and to help overcome anxiety, stress and low mood. The work they do is fantastic and they really make a difference to peoples lives.
Please help me raise as much money as possible for this wonderful organisation and I would love to have as many of you there as possible on the day to witness the moment I shave off my hair.
I will also be donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity who provide free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
About Valleys Steps:
"Valleys Steps is a local organisation offering free, open access, self help courses in Stress Control and Mindfulness to help people better understand and manage their feelings in order to improve their wellbeing. Courses are available throughout Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend.
Local GPs are supportive of the courses too, as they are seen to provide a genuine alternative to patients who are seeking to improve their wellbeing and reduce their stress."
