Bessie sails Eddystone 2019 for Horizons Plymouth
On Saturday 15 June 2019 'Bessie' will be taking part in the Eddystone Charity Pursuit. The crew will be Andrew Eccleston who is the Chair of Trustees, together with another Trustee Alison Raynsford and one of our fantastic Volunteers Amber Busuttil-Reynaud who is a student at Plymouth University. If the weather is not too challenging we will also take some of the young people who sail with Horizons Children's Sailing Charity. Horizons helps disadvantaged and disabled children from the inner city communities of Plymouth. We do this by providing learning and educational opportunities that increase self-confidence and improve social and practical skills, through water-based activities that would normally be beyond the means of these children. Last year we were able to take 1,272 different children sailing in almost 3,000 individual sessions. To keep our children safe on the water we need the best equipment and staff - which is why we have to work hard at fundraising. We need your support to keep doing this important work. Last year we got close to our target of £1,000 - and also picked up some prize money. With your help we can do even better in 2019! Find out more about our charity at www.horizonsplymouth.org 'Bessie' is a Dufour 36 Classic and we will sail out to the Eddystone Light from Plymouth, and back again. It's about 26 miles.

About Eddystone Pursuit
This is event is designed to raise money for charities nominated by the individual yachts which enter. The charities supported must “benefit the human condition” and have a Registered Charity Number. Provided a yacht is equipped to sail a 26 mile offshore course from Plymouth Sound and back, and its entry falls within the criteria stated elsewhere on this web site, be it large or small, racing or cruising (or neither), old or new, entry is welcomed! There is an entry fee (detailed elsewhere on this website) and each yacht entering is required to raise sponsorship for its nominated charity.
