This year I have set myself a challenge to run a 10k muddy run. I'm raising money for a local charity from Kettering called Solve It. The reasons behind myself choosing a young people charity is because it’s always been my passion to help children/young people towards a positive future and for them to see their full potential. Furthermore, since the age of 16 I have volunteered for young people charities within Northamptonshire and seen first-hand how this type of intervention helps young people to make the right choices in life and not full for peer pressure.
About the charity I’m fundraising for-
Solve It are a dedicated service for young people, adults, professionals & organisations promoting understanding, awareness & education of the consequences of 'Legal Highs/NPS including Solvent Abuse [aerosols, gas and glue]. They work towards the prevention of related death, illness, accidents, crime & the impact such abuse has on the family & community. They work within my home town of Kettering and the surrounding areas enabling communities to have a better knowledge and work together to tackle the impact of all Legal Highs.
Solve It offers preventative education for children, young people, parents, carers, and organisations. There interactive workshop helps children understand what influences their decision making process. Children learn how to make decisions in risky situations, stay safe and improve their confidence. Young people & adults will identify the signs and symptoms of Solvent Abuse & Legal highs. They will be aware of how to support people who are 'using' & learn about health risks and effective first aid.
Results show that children have a better understanding of what affects their decision making, giving them more skills and confidence to manage risky situations.
I would love it for you to donate to Solve It so they can continue to provide this amazing service!
