For my birthday, I'm raising money for Borderline Arts, a charity that raises awareness of a mental health condition called Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) & tackles the surrounding stigma.
Tragically as many as 1 in 10 people with BPD die from suicide. Having experienced the pain of losing my mum to suicide, I want to support Borderline Arts' work to prevent this happening to others. It's also a charity close to my heart, as it was to my mum, because my cousin has BPD. Please give if you can!
About Borderline Arts
Aims:
- Raise awareness & tackle the stigma of BPD in the wider public
- Support/educate those involved in the lives of BPD sufferers
- Nurture creativity though activities/events to empower/support sufferers
Activities:
- Art Exhibitions
The art, created by individuals with BPD, expresses their experience of the condition. For the artist, it offers a creative outlet, a voice & a platform to showcase their art, promoting self-esteem.
- Creative Educational Workshops
Professionals/family members etc who are supporting someone with BPD are enabled to express their personal thoughts/feelings about BPD, learn more about the condition & learn ways to sensitively relate to those with BPD.
- Art Group for Adults with BPD
A relaxed space to creatively celebrate positive aspects of who we are, fostering self-worth, coping skills & social inclusion.
- Writing Group for Adults with BPD
A relaxed space to use creative writing as a form of expression & healthy escapism, fostering self-worth, coping skills & social inclusion.
