I've always been an avid runner but decided to challenge myself, along with a friend, this year to complete the Brighton marathon. It is taking a lot of commitment and dedication to keep myself getting up in the dark and cold winter mornings and I wanted an extra kick to encourage myself to keep training. This is why I have decided to use my run to raise money for IMARA - a local charity in Nottingham set up to offer early intervention support to children, teenagers and families after a disclosure of child abuse.
They work to offer information, advice and contact throughout the judicial process and helping with referral on to appropriate support agencies. Having looked into child abuse during my extended project I thoroughly appreciate the invaluable work of this charity.
I hope that I can raise not only money for IMARA but also awareness of sexual abuse and the agencies available for anyone affected by this. For more information about the charity visit: http://www.imara.org.uk/index
