On Sunday 23rd April 2017 I will be running the 26.2 miles that is London Marathon.Although not my first marathon, this will be a challenge, I was going to run it for myself, but recently have become aware of a small local charity that would benefit from some fundraising.
OSCAR Birmingham is a voluntary charity supporting children and young adults living with sickle cell Anaemia or Thalassaemia; these are inherited red blood cell disorders which can significantly reduce the quality of life for sufferers and requires invasive and regular treatments. OSCAR works with young individuals who may be socially disadvantaged due to their disorder. OSCAR organizes regular activity programmes, such as days out and educational workshops, to encourage social interaction and support networks for all sickle cell sufferers and their families. The main focus is on emotional and physical well-being, as well as increasing self-esteem and raising awareness of genetic disorders
I'm really excited to be participating in this fantastic running event - it would be even better to use the occasion to raise some money for OSCAR Birmingham!
If you wish to help this worthy cause,- please donate - any amount will make a difference to OSCAR Birmingham and the children and young people they are able to support!
