This year, The Students' Union has decided to extend their Black History Month campaign into a year-long “Celebrating Black Excellence” campaign. This aims to showcase Black people of excellence, address misconceptions about Black history, and empower the Black community to achieve greater heights with their chosen fields. The campaign provides an opportunity to celebrate individuals and events, which have shaped African and Caribbean communities, as well as our collective history. Through the host of events and activities we will be hosting this year, we aim to raise money to support a Bristol Black Carers as our way of contributing to the excellent ongoing projects. Some of the events include panel discussions on decolonising the curriculum, workshops surrounding mental health, as well as live music events, art competitions, and poetry nights.
