A crew of burley bankers are braving the autumnal winds to raise money for a well loved and highly regarded local charity. Enthusiastic members of Barclays, Bristol nominated St Werburghs City Farm as their charity of the year in light of their local impact. Having already supported the Farm in a number of practical tasks on site, they are now gearing up to compete in the Bristol Dragon Boat Festival 2013. A crew of 16 paddlers plus a drummer will race in Chinese-style Dragon Boats over a 250 metre course. As well as having a great deal of fun, the team will raise vital funds that will enable the Farm to offer more practical training opportunities and outdoor education experiences that support and inspire young people to grow. In particular, the Farm seeks to work with young people from low income families, young carers, those marginalised from mainstream school, those with learning difficulties, physical disabilities and/or those with multiple and complex needs. The race will be held at Baltic Wharf, Cumberland Road, Bristol, Avon, BS1 6XG on Sunday 22nd September 2013 10am – 4pm. Please support us through a donation or come along and wave us through the race!
