Hi there!
I hadn't actually planned on running the Paris Marathon for a charity however so many people have asked if i was and if so they would like to sponsor me.....so thought it would be a shame not to take the opportunity to raise some pennies!
My chosen charity is 'The Friends of Phoenix School' (Peterborough)
The Phoenix School is a special needs school that caters for children with severe and profound learning difficulties. I am lucky enough to work at this fantastic school as a Teaching Assistant so have seen first hand the benefits of all of the fundraising that the friends do.
The friends (a small group of parents and other volunteers) work tirelessly to raise money through various events throughout the year in order to help finance extra curricular activities, trip outings, additional materials, toys, electrical and mechanical aids the list is endless! One of the most popular events held each year is 'Spencer's Ball' All pennies I hope to raise by running the Paris Marathon will be added to the total that will be raised by this years 'Spencer's Vintage Ball' that is due to take place on Saturday 25th April 2015
All money raised this year by the friends is going towards the deposit for another specialised minibus and outdoor play equipment for the new upper school building which is due for completion in September 2015.
The friends aim mirrors that of the school in that they wish to extend and enrich the experience of the students and to assist in developing their full potential :)
